I have a 1979 with a DUI distributor and was wondering if anyone here knows how to get the original tach to work with one of these.

Not sure if it would work with the DUI ignition, but when running MSD ignition (as I am) you have to use a tach adaptor to get the stock tach to "read" the signal. IIRC the output signal from the MSD was a sine wave and Toyota tach input was a square wave format. Or maybe it was the other way around, I don't really recall. Point is that there are adaptors from MSD and a few others on ebay/summit/etc. that MAY work with your distributor.
