Help with seat color and pattern

I have a 1981 Truck. I believe it is the SR5 since it has a Tach and wood on the dash.. I was told it is the black edition. Someone replaced the seats with seats from an Acura. I was able to locate replacement seats and I want to get them upholstered. The seats I got are perforated tan vinyl.
I am hoping to get some help with this. Did they come in regular vinyl or perforated vinyl? I am planning to have them in black but I am wondering if the bottom skirt section and sides should be gray or was the whole seat black?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

AFAIK the '81 SR5's seats had a cloth center & vinyl sides like this one: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/s...s-152474.html#
Those look to be the original pattern for the Black Edition. A few others I found had aftermarket seat covers.

With a little searching around I did find a few with all vinyl seats, with the center sections being a contrasting color (center medium grey, outers black) but do not know if they are original or not. I couldn't find any info on options.

Do you kinow if any one still sells this pattern of fabric? I am also noticing that these seats have a built in headrest. The seats I got from a different truck have removable headrests. If I can't find this pattern, I think I am going to do black perforated vinyl with dark grey skirts and outer bolsters.

Thank you! This was very helpful. I did find one person that sent me pics of a seat and the fabric had SR5 printed all over it in small letters. I am not sure if that is factory or if someone had it made.

The 1979-81 SR5/Sport trucks had the fixed backs and built in head rests. The 1982-83 SR5 trucks had the adjustable seat backs with adjustable/removable head rests. The SR5 logo fabric was used in the 1984-1988 trucks and 4Runners which you could use as the center panel. The center panel on the 79-81 trucks is no longer available but is made of a very thick fabric. I had the upholsterer re-use the original center section. He just cleaned and repaired any holes in this section. You can't tell of the repairs unless you look very closely. If you do have the seats reupholstered, consider having the seat foam replaced as well as it makes for a "like new" firm seat. After 40 years, the foam looses its support for the fabric and your butt.

@r100guy this is great information and it just made my choice of pattern easy. Since I have an 81, I won't have to worry about the SR5 logo in the seats. You mentioned that the seats are non adjustable with built in headrests. The seats I have now are also non-adjustable but they have removable headrests. I was told they came out of a 1981 truck but probably not an SR5.
I found an outfit called SMS Fabrics and they said they may be able to match the original pattern. I am hoping my upholstery guy will be able to make a cover that will go over the existing headrests to make them appear non adjustable. I will definitely be adding new padding as the seats I got are pretty worn. I will have to post before and after pics when I am done with them.
