I have a 78 hilux 5 speed manual transmission and I need to pass California smog test. The technician said the engine is spitting unburned gas out the tail pipe. I have replaced the carb with weber, and the intake manifold as well as the header as the original was full of wholes and leaking. Sparkplugs, rotor cap, and wires are all under 6 months old. I also cleaned and sanded the sparkplugs before taking in for the smog. The air pump is hooked up and running, it does not do anything but it is running for visual representation. The filter that goes to the fuel tank is also present and functional. The technician was complaining about the carburetor not having the hot intake as the original. As with the weber that is no longer applicable. I have attached a picture of the paper work.

Is the Weber 50 state smog legal? I doubt it would be without all of the necessary vacuum ports to run all of the factory emissions equipment. You'll probably have to get a hold of an original carb, install the original intake manifold, test, fix, and hook up all of the factory emissions equipment.
Its a weber 32\36, and I was having the running rich issue with the old carb as well. Its the main reason I purchased and upgraded the carb. I can install all except the egr valve and air cleaner on the truck again but none of that is going to fix the fact that is running so rich. He also posted the ignition timing at FB34, the documents say -8 degrees.
