heater question

heater question

i got a 1982 toyota and heater blows but wont blow warm air. the motor gets up to temp and everything. the fan works good. just wont blow warm. any ideas on what it could be?

Blocked heater core or the valve that allows coolant to flow to heater core went out..

i messed with the valve on the firewall a little bit seemed to be opening and closing. how do u check the heater core?

Try flushing it both ways...I bet a bunch of crap comes out. A garden hose with the end cut off works great.

Disconnect the cable from the valve on the firewall and put it in the full open position. Even if you flush the system the valve has to be wide open so your flush is effective. Another thing, even if the heater valve looks wide open it might not be so take the valve out, clean and check it.

Probably a long shot...but sometimes if the coolant is a little low, a bubble will form in the heater core and you wont get circulation...it could be the case.
