as Dave mentioned above, there is a stock gas tank drain. just have to drop the skid plate to get to it..

 

From my experience, removing the drain plug strips out the bolt hole due to the corrosion that builds up on the threads. I made that mistake of removing the drain plug and having to re tap it. I also have a tank now that I have to have re tapped as someone removed it and put some thread sealer on it and it is a poor repair job.

My suggestion is if you are going to try and remove the bolt and it is difficult to stop and just syphon it out.

 

Not hijacking here but what is the capacity of the first gen long bed truck gas tank
