Front drive shaft problem!!!
hi, just joined the fourm.i have a 1981 yota long bed 4x4 i just put in a rough country 3" suspension lift and having problems with the front drive shaft what do you guys do to it to make it work.it looks like its coming half way off. i tried putting a spacer in the front part where the axle is but, on the end of the drive shaft where the transfer case is it hit where the joints are to much of a angle. was wonder if anyone can help me with this problem.

does it have one of these (double cardon joint) ...maybe its cardan but i donno

the double cardon will allow a lot steeper angle it goes on the end with the tcase.
also consider making a square driveshaft. if you have a double cardon you could increase its abilities by grinding some stuff down inside

Do us a favor and snap a picture of your underside for us. Preferably between the T-Case and front axle. I have broke and ripped apart many yota drive shafts and have never heard of a stock one having problems like that with only a 3" lift. I have seen 6" lifts on them and still they worked perfect. I think someone has done something wrong or "modified" it incorrectly.

x23 on the shaft being installed backwards, the DC joint should be at the transfer case. If you are still having issues with the shaft being too short, it looks like a fairly new shaft. Take truck to a driveshaft shop and have them lengthen your current one, though with that mild of a lift flipping the shaft should fix it.

yikes Slacker is right.. post that on pirate and you might be cryin for mommy... looks like a pretty nice dline, as others mentioned flip it around.. and i always make it a point to at least put a drop of blue locktite on the drive line bolts, dont want them rattling loose.... dont forget to grease that puppy to.. new joints dont have much grease in em.
