Electrical issues

My 82 pickup that I bought about a week ago will not take/keep a charge. I had the battery checked out; it came back good. I replaced the alternator, checked grounds, and the truck still dies. The battery and brake light are on and haven't turned off even after the battery was fully charged. Is there any things that often go wrong with these trucks that I should check?

Thanks

SLCyota;
Welcome, are you in SLC, UT?

I believe you have an external voltage regulator. Some were electronic and some were mechanical/vibrating type. Make sure you've got the correct one for your ALT.

The CHARGE light is indicating a draw on the battery, that's why it show's even though the batt is charged.

Have you checked ALL the fuses and fusible links?

Ya, I live in sugarhouse. I have been into dsm's all my life, and decided to get a toyota pickup for a daily/wheeler, but I'm plagued with problems.

I am planning on tearing the wiring apart tomorrow and hopefully figuring out what the problem is. The regulator is the black box that plugs into the alt right?

Thanks for the help guys!

What did you find out??

Yup, the regulator mounts on the driver side fender above the coil/igniter.
