I have a 79 4x4 that I have been working on for a few months now. I rebuilt the front axle and the carb and installed the transfer case (4.7:1) and rear diff (detroit locker) out of my old truck. In the course of doing this, I broke one of the driveshaft bolts. When searching for a new one I realized that the bolt was an odd size (9 mm). I thought all 79 - 83 truck used 8 mm driveshaft bolts. My truck is an early 79. Does anyone know when Toyota switched from 9 mm to 8 mm driveshaft bolts? I am just asking out of curiousity - I have already replaced the bolt.
