Cal-smog

Yeah they look at the VIN to see what year to test it as, the best thing to do is keep it stock, smog it, then put the other carb on it and keep the stock one so you can use it to smog every year. otherwise i would just try to keep the earlier one on it and make sure you use chevron supreme, change the oil, filter and air filter with GOOD synthetic oil and drive it for 30 min before you take it in, if you wanna play it safer change the spark plugs too. I went to smog mine when i bought it and they told me it needed a new cat so i did all this to my truck and took it back the next day and it passed with flying colors, the techs there were amazed i just didn't tell them what i did hahahaha try that and let us know if it works. later

well i already knew that i was talking about the CAB as in the place where you sit thanks though i'll keep in mind the 91 grade and synthetic because before the truck rolled and the body was totaled it had trouble passing smog even with a freshly rebuilt engine and tranny, you wouldn't happen to know if i can trans plant a CAB and still pass smog do you?

hmm, not to sure, what year where you looking to put on the frame? they should smog it for whatever cab is on the frame, like when people take 1950's trucks and drop then on 80's k-5 frames they don't have to smog it because the reg. says its a 19502 truck. It's weird but what are you gunna do
