American Racing Wheels On 1st Gen 4X4?

I’ve been wanting to replace my wheels with some classic AR172 Bajas, but am having a problem. ARs website list no 15X7 wheels for these trucks, only 15x8. When I check the big tire places for packages they claim these will not fit my 1982 4WD.

The specs are:
15X7
BS: 3.76
Bore: 108
Offset: -6mm
Bolt pattern: 6x5.5
PN: ar1725783

Am I missing something here? I know these trucks call for 3.75 backspacing, but is 1/100th of an inch really going to make a difference? I know I’ve seen AR wheels on tons of these old trucks. I would appreciate it if anyone could confirm fit.

Thank you

Maybe the offset isn’t enough? Might need to be at least -10mm?

Maybe & might…🙂

Wheels are complicated...unless it's something you deal with on regular basis and really get to understand all the measurements and how they interact. I remember searching for new wheels for my 83, years ago. I'm pretty sure there's a several page thread I started, trying to figure out what would fit on my truck. I don't envy the process you're in right now...

Not saying those wheels will fit, but I'll definitely say that the tire places don't know anything about these trucks.

Im in the same boat as 83 above, but numbers dont lie. If you can comb through the other threads abt bs and offset, you should be able to know it those will fit
