Alternator/Regulator Problems!?!?

I recently bought a 79 4x4 that I thought needed an alternator. I put a new alternator in it and it was only putting out 11.6 amps. So I thought it was just a faulty alternator. But the second one did the exact same thing and now this is the third one ive put in and it still doesnt work. Ive had a couple peaple tell me that it could be the regulator but The guys at Schucks Told me that the alternators are internally regulated and dont have a regulator. Which makes no sense considering it has an regulator. The Truck has a 22r and 5 speed swap if that makes any difference. If you guys have any thoughts please let me know.
Thanks,
Derek

I dont really know whats wrong with the wiring. everything seems to be hooked up correctly. I even tried bypassing the regulator and going straight to the battery from the alternator and that doesnt seem to work.
