Engine no idle but runs fine at higher RPMs in a truck already plagued with electrical problems could possibly be the idle fuel cut solenoid. Can also be any number of vacuum leaks, EGR valve, AAP diaphragm as well as a number of other things.

Personally I'd start with the idle cut solenoid. First thing you can try is to listen if it click when you turn the key on. If it doesn't, try permenantly jumping it open to your battery and see if it idles then. If it does you can either install a switch on your dash, or try to find the wiring fault from the fuse panel (I think it runs off the 15 amp fuse designated "Engine" in the fuse panel but again I might be wrong).

Did you make sure the alternator has a ground to the engine?

well guys we got it fixed i was looking at another post turns out the autopart store gave us the alt for the 6 wire external regulator where ours was a 5 wire took ti back and got the right all alt. and now it charges. the charge light doesn't work (wouldn;t go out tried another lamp relay then it wouldn;t come on but it read 14.5 volts at the battery so i think we are good for now!. funy part was the alt we had had a green plug on ti and the wires still plugged into it
