83 Randomly Stalls. Help!!!!!

Hey guys I have a 83 pickup. I will be driving it and everything will be fine, runs great but every few days it will decide to choke and die. Then it will be very difficult to start but once it does it will idle fine. If I tried to take off I will get a half mile and will repeat. After few times it will go back to running fine. Any help!?

Will it stay running if you keep your foot on the gas?

Start off with the easy stuff: fuel filter, fuel pump, vacuum lines. My 81 was doing the same thing, turned out the fuel pump wasnt putting out enough pressure.

check the fuel filter 1st. I'm 95% sure that is your problem. From what you described it sound exactly like what I went through with my fuel filter. It was also worse as my tank neared empty.

I already changed the fuel filter and did no help. Is it worth just putting a new fuel pump on or do those either work or they don't? And to answer the first post no it will not stay running unless I rapidly keep giving it the gas.

My yota would start, idol fine and drive fine until I would go over 15 mph then it would cut out, bog down and buck like it wasn't getting enough fuel. Did this with 2 different junk yard fuel pumps that I'm sure were all gummed up... So I bought a brand new pump and she runs tits now.

When my truck would randomly stall, but would stay running if I kept my foot on the gas, it was the fuel cut solenoid (idle cut solenoid) on the carb.
