83 fan/vent problem

I had a deck installed a few months ago and immediately i noticed something was wrong. My heater and defrost work in my truck, but after the deck install whenever i turn the heater/defrost on, the vent/fan turns on as well and i am no longer able to switch the bottom switch from defrost/heat over to the vent. This defeats the purpose of my heater and im tired of wearing a jacket while i drive. Any ideas? Thanks

I have a 1983 truck and I only have one switch that operates my electric fan. The heat, temperature, defrost, etc are operated by lever / cables (color coded). Is that what you have? If during the deck install they did not put the cables back on the proper device that they are to be mounted on or did not lock the cables into their retainer tabs, that would cause problems. As far as the electric fan switch goes, there is only one plug at the switch, so during the removal for the deck install you just unplug it for removal and then reconnect it during reinstallation.

sorry it has taken me days to respond. I have been in couch surfing and all that jazz but i tore into my deck and i think its the actual heater/ ac core thats in the dash. The levers aren't working properly so i cant switch over to vent which makes me think that the installer broke the lever in the on position. Thanks for the diagrams tho dropzone, i dig your trekker
