Noob Here..Just got 83 Auto/Longbed..106k..The truck idles high..then when i put her in reverse or drive,the truck will idle rough and and want to die,but does not...put in new plugs,wires,cap,rotor,air filter,fuel filter,timing was off so i re-set it..the truck will idle at about 1000 rpm,but will try to die when put in drive or reverse...What should i check next?..Any advice would help..I love the truck,but am afraid to drive her anywhere..Thanks in advance,Chris

 

there is a transmission control relay (ATM) under the steering column -- you'll need a manual for testing , but I would start there
