83 4x4 swap
Hey guys I am new around here and to the Toyota world. I'm sure there are threads on this but here is what I have.
This is my 1983 pickup the day I brought her home, I'm the second owner. It has 65k on the clock when it got stuck. Service records stop at 62k!
My plan is to do a 4x4 swap and DD it. Nothing wild, more stock than anything with exhaust and 31s.
I'm headed out to look at this 1981 parts truck. The guy said he only wants the motor (20R) which I'd like to have for the head and intake. So any help with what I'm getting into and what else I'll be needing would be great. Tech links, first hand advice, ext.
Thanks guys!

Sell both of them and buy what you really want. If you want a 4x4 then that 4x2 is pretty much worthless for your purposes. That 4x4 looks pretty far gone and I imagine that the drivetrain is in pretty rough shape. In trying to combine them, I think you would be into it for a whole lot more money and effort than you think. I see fairly good deals on 4x4's on eBay and craigslist all the time - I think you'd be better off going that route.
