83 4x4 Fuel Pump

Folks,

My 83 4x4 seems to be lacking fuel pressure. No telling how old the electronic fuel pump (no manual unfortunately) is but does anyone have a set-up that works? It looks like you need about 5 PSI flow rate. The AC Delco has 4.5 PSI but any suggestions much appreciated.

So many questions...

We're talking about an '83 22R here or is this for a different engine?

What carburetor? Why is your 22R using an electric fuel pump? What is the part number/manufacturer of your current fuel pump?

What makes you think you have low fuel pressure? Do you have a regulator in-line? Does this setup run a return line to the tank?

Low pressure flow rate depends on the carb spec. You can use a fuel pump rated for more than the carb can flow but you need to be able to regulate the pressure and send the extra back to the tank.

I believe the stock Aisin carb is around 5psi. Holley is around 5psi. Weber is 3psi.

There are many very cheap low pressure fuel pumps (or expensive ones) available online. I would get a decent low pressure regulator and a low pressure gauge so you're not guessing about what's going on anymore.
