'82 heater water valve?

My head gasket blew water out the tail pipe and runs bad. Going to try the sodium silicate stuff and see if it will plug it up. Just wondering if anyone knows, is the heat shut off valve a positive seal on the '82 22r. Thing is they say its best to block off/plug the heater hoses when using sealers but these older veh are different than newer ones that have water flowing even with the A/C on. Just hope to stop the leak, it blew a day after I got the notice to take a smog test.

90% certain that they seal well enough that you won't end up with much Stop Leak in your heatercore. Even if it's a perfect seal, you'll end up with a little because the other end of the heatercore has no valve.

That said, don't do it! Stop Leak 1. won't work for a headgasket, and 2. even for a normal coolant leak, it's a weak short-term bandaid that costs potentially serious long-term cooling system problems. I've seen various cars' radiators, waterpumps, heatercores, thermostats, a couple of heads, and one time even a block have to be replaced because they were so clogged with Stop Leak that they didn't flow in some areas. It's for "we're in the middle of the desert and this engine's going to overheat and we're going to be stranded and die" situations; seeing's how you're somewhere with internet access and don't have a serious human emergency on your hands, do it right and fix the problem. Or PNO it until you can. (And anyway, something that's mediocre at sealing 1.1 bar at 95C is not going to work at the temperatures and pressures of a combustion chamber).

Unhappy

'moroza' I know you're right. I used that liquid glass a few times over the years and helped it last till now but its so bad nothing will plug it short of concrete. Once I make space on the table saw I'll get started.
