hey! this is my first post here so sorry if this has been answered before, i tried to search for it but couldn't find anything. i recently got a 82 pickup with the "1L" diesel engine in it for almost nothing. it was working great but now it seems like the fuel pump has gone and died on me. looking online for a replacement from that same engine the few i can find are used ones for 400-500$, and i'd really rather not pay that much for a 35 year old part!
does anyone know if the fuel pumps from the next couple diesel engine models (2L, 3L, etc) are compatible with the L? or if theres anyplace out there that carries remanufactured ones? or basically just any good alternative to me shelling out so much for the part?

there are none that will "swap" .. this is not just a fuel pump , it is the injection pump .
I would remove it and take it to a SPECIALIST to repair .. most likely , it is just the pig skin diaphragm that is the issue
