82-83 timing chain question

so iam a newbie sorry to say I just have a super dumb question I set up my timing chain on my 22r with the links on the chain everything looked good you know set the shiney links up to where there suppost to be then moved the cam gear back counter clockwise to take up slack in the chain. after I rotated it to set the valves up the dimple on the cam sprocket don't line up with the mark on the rocker shafts everything looks good still the balancer is at 0deg and the dowel on the cam sprocket is at 12:00 but the dimple on the cam sprocket don't line up its at like 11:50ish somewhere around there that's normal ??? just checking that's all since its all got the right tension and the cam dowel that locates the sprocket is dead on thanks scott

Yeah, when it's all said and done it looks like the chain is like half a link off. That's normal.
