82 4x4 help please
My truck has idle problems but my main concern is when I turn the key off the truck wants to keep turning over and it sounds like death and it can't be good on my ol 22r. It has a 3 year old weber carb and the carburetor leaks gas also when I give it gas. The truck dies on me when I come to a fast stop also. I do have to say though when I'm driving it runs like a champ. But anyway I don't know if I have a carburetor issues or what but I really need some.help trying to fix this problem.

Things you need to do;
Start by checking for vaccum leaks (spray carb cleaner at the seams and listen for idle to drop). I assume you have the two piece adaptor plate and they are known to have issues.
After that you should make sure you are tuned up (timeing, valves, plugs/wires, ect) then give the weber a tune like this

The first problem is called deiseling. I'm no carb expert but it can be fixed. Searching (this site or even google) will come up with a lot. There's basic stuff you go through whenever you have these problems. Timing, spark issues, carb issues, vacuum issues. If you've gone through those things once, you'll be able to figure it out pretty quickly on your own the next time, unless it's a really strange problem (which most of them aren't. most are the same old basic things that happen to these trucks).
Webers are great, but the answer to problems can also be fixing them, rather than spending money on completely new aftermarket parts.

The dieseling (...I copied your spelling. I never can get that word right!) can also be a result of tuning the truck to run despite intake vacuum leaks, so that you have the idle speed set so that you are using the throttle to keep the motor running at idle. I have that problem even with my one-piece carb adapter, so I ordered a couple more gaskets and need to try again. Actually mine didn't leak right away after changing to the one piece adapter.

When my fuel cut/idle cut solenoid was going bad, my truck did diesel a bit. It would also stall at random times unless I kept my foot on the gas. Keeping my foot on the gas would always keep it from stalling.
