I have an 81 toyota pickup, I swapped in an engine from another 81 2wd, and the alternators were different. Long story short, i went through a whole mess of problems trying to find out the source of the problem. It turned out that I needed a different voltage regulator. In the process of this deal my truck was charging at 16+ volts, and fried all my lights and my tach and fuel gauge. I was wondering if you guys would know at what point in the system i would need to replace it? In the dash? Fuel tank? Dont know where to start, and i kinda would like to have these gauges. It didnt hurt my voltimeter, oil pressure, or temp gauge. Thank you.
