81 distributor vacuume question

I bought a 81 pickup just before Christmas and was tuning it up today. I noticed that the vaccume advance has 2 ports on the distributer, my truck has been converted to a weber carb (32-36) and the vaccume hose has no vaccume at idle. This hose is conected closest to the dist base. Is this corect? What is the other port on the dist for?

My truck is out of town, I think I ran it from the intake manifold, I took of all the extra vacuum lines and bought plugs for all the holes, I did a search on it, and there is a great debate on where to get vacuum from. So I think i went constant.

well i moved the hose and pluged the other nipple on the dist, the dude i bought it from says it has a "RV" cam. Im a mechanic myself and know that is a broad term...so i set timing to 8 btdc... with the hose hooked to the ported vaccume it seems to idle smooth and rev nicely.. im going to try it this way and check fuel mileage the switch to constant. Ill report back.... Thanks for your help
