'81 2wd body to 4x4 chassis

Hey all, I just formed this forum and it looks like a good place to get info and im hoping somebody can fill me in. I have an 81 long bed 2wd. I really need a 4x4. Its a solid truck with a good moter. If its possible to swap the body on to a 4x4 frame. I imagine first gen 4x4s will be compatible. Would they be a bolt on swap? How bout swaping the body to an IFS frame? I think a 86+ frame with a 81 body would be a cool ride and they are eaiser to find. Any info would be greatly apricated.

I am pretty sure the 2wd body can go on the 4wd frame. BUT I would also like it if someone else can confirm this? As I have just bought a rollover 4wd, with all good running gear, and have a 2wd with a good cab. I am assuming the two differences are the fenders, and the cutout for the shifters. I don't have both trucks in one place yet to compare ....

beds are interchangeable , but the lower skirts are different . obviously they don't have the holes for the flares either , so you would need to "modify"

cabs are basically the same , except for the front mount and the hole for the transfer you can see here https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f209...r-rust-262324/
