'79 power steering swap

My pickup was converted to power steering before I bought it and the box has a lot of slop. I was wondering if anyone knew how to tell what year box it is, what might fit if i need need to replace it. Any info on this would help.
thanks

79-85 use the same box, the push pull style steering leaves a lot to be desired.
There is a set screw surrounded by a nut on the box that can be adjusted to remove some slop. Chances are though the box is worn out.

If you have 3" of lift you might consider converting to high steer. It uses an IFS steering box (86-95.5) and is so much better than the old style steering.

Also check your other steering components

Thanks, when i got the tuck it was almost junk yard worthy so I already replaced the balljoints and dampner. The box it self is leaking out the seals so I'll look into the hi steer setup
