5m-ge in '80 1st gen pickup?
I am a real noob when it comes to engine swaps, but I have a 1980 pick up with a REALLY tired 20r in it. My brother has totalled his 83 supra leaving the engine in tact, he said I could do what ever I want with it. The question is, can I put the 5m-ge into the 1st gen pick up? I have read that the engine bay is alot shorter than the 84 and up pick ups and a straight 6 might not fit.
If this is not an option, could someone suggest the best "bang for your buck" engine to swap? (I'm running 33" tires and a stock drivetrain)
I also don't have mega amounts of money to spend!
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

it has been done, but it is a tight squeeze. you'll have to swap a late model W56 or G52 transmission in, as well as re-routing the exhaust since it's on the passenger side.
the easiest swap is a 22R, for a little extra pop, have your 20R head rebuilt and bolt it on!
