2nd gen gas tank into 1st gen

Well, I picked up an 82 but the tank is rotted and leaking. I really don't want to spend/have the time to do a custom-mount of the tank, though a small tweak or two is fine.

What I need to know is can I throw a tank for an 84 into my 82 shortbed? I found this one thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f114...rences-117627/ , but that was all I could find on the matter.

thanks for any input

It has to be from the same wheelbase. You cannot swap a short wheelbase and long wheelbase tank around. I tried and wasted the money at the junkyard and learned this the hard way. I believe you can however get them off of 2wds.. just have to have a matching wheelbase.

Thanks for the response, that makes a lot of sense, and I kind of figured it'd work out that way. I'll make sure to post how it goes, unless I wind up using a fuel cell or something

thanks
