20R Timing: what hoses to disconnect?

Hi. 1980 Truck 20R Head/22R Block
I cant remember what hose(s) to disconnect while timing it.
I know its one of em on the distributor.
And also, I dont even know if they are connected right. The diagram on the hood is now just blank wrinkly sticker.

There is a one way valve that goes a certain way, i dont know which way?
The 2 pipes, upper, and lower which one connects to the distributor diaphram large and small?

Thanks.

i would like to say that you just disconnect and plug both of the lines on the distributor. timing is 8*BTDC on a 20R.

And what part of the vacuum canister on the distributor requires suction?

...plug the lines themselves, not the distributor ports. when vacuum is applied to the distributor ports, it advances the timing. you don't want this when setting the idle timing.
