1983 Center console

Did the 1983's come with a center console in them? When I look down I see a bracket with bolt holes was wondering. If it does can someone send me a picture of it, thanks.

And the ones with a bench seat were kind of like a half bench...bench in the back but the bottom was split, and there was a little storage area flush with the seats, built into the seats, so you can really only seat 2 people. I'll get a photo up.

This is the best I've got without taking more photos. It just attaches with two screws. I just took out the bench and put in full buckets, and untill I figure out a better console I actually just glued that thing to the floor between the seats, so at least I've got somewhere to put stuff. If your truck has full bucket seats (unattached back), then I'm not sure what the setup was..

Heres mine. '82 SR-5 had "leather" buckets.

Mines different than the ones above.

It starts just behind the tcase shifter, has a coin tray at the front, a small indented part then a slim verticle pocket and a little compartment that opens up at the back. Not sure what year the truck was that it came out of but it bolted right up to the brackets that were in mine and its an 83.

FYI 2wd consoles dont fit in 4wd's, id say Toylocost's is a 2wd style one (no hole for a t-case shifter).

Il try and get pics.

Yes it is stock. Just not stock color.

EDIT: Yet it is a 2wd. If you got one from a 2wd truck it wouldnt take much to make the t-case shifter fit. Just grind out some plastic till it works and get creative with a shift boot. I had my mom sew that one up.

yeah most likely the same one, I like it, a large coffee fits in the little compartment pretty good.. no need for a cup holder, the little coin try pops out so theres a secret space underneath, same with the slim vertical pocket.

Gotta a better picture of the 4x4 version? I was wondering if I put a extra reduction box in, if would interfere with it. Mine must have been taken out long ago.

So do you have the full buckets or the half bucket-half bench set up? If yours are full buckets it won't be the same as my photos. If your seats are attached in the back, it will. Best thing would be to check the classifieds. The "practically anything you want" thread started by dirtoyboy and taken over by girlzlikemud2 is probably the best place to ask. I can take more photos, but like I mentioned, right now my bench seats are sitting on the floor of the garage and the console is glued to the floor of my cab between my bucket seats, so you're not going to get a much better idea from me. I can take a photo of the actual console sitting in my cab as it is now, though, if that will help you.

Ok, so you've got the seats that are separate on the bottom but joined at the back? I'll take a better photo of my seats, and of the console where it is now on my floor. If I remember I'll have them up tomorrow. Or if I get really bored at work...maybe today.

My old seats sans-console Look comfy, don't they?

Same seats as you or do you have full buckets?

Console as it sits, glued to the floor until I come up with something better.

Thanks for the photo it was exactly what I was looking for. Does anyone know how much one of these would go for and where to look?

Well...if I find a better console then I can tell you exactly where to look
Other than the "practically anything you want" thread, you can just keep checking the classifieds and local junkyards. I would gladly sell you mine cheap (like 10 bucks) but I'm not super motivated right now to work on another console so I don't know how long it will be before I'll be getting rid of it.

May not be what you're looking to do, but my change to bucket seats, even crappy buckets out of an '85, was one of the best things I did to my truck. I didn't really think the originals were that bad, and I'm still relatively young, but it's a whole new truck with the new seats in it. I found mine for $50 for the pair, which seems to be a pretty common going rate unless you want something pretty fancy. Then you can find any console that will fit, and it will be a better console with real storage and maybe an arm rest, too. Anyways, I know it's easy to just put in the stock console & be done with it but if you switced to buckets and a better console you'd be very happy that you did.

This is what the interior of my 83 4x4 looks like. Its a little messy at the moment Im thinking that is the typical SR5 centre console in the 1st gen 4x4's
