1979 2dr SEAT replacement/swap
My 42yr old seats need help.
Anyone out there have a 78-79 solid bench seat bottom cushion with shifter cut out (notch) and/or seat back cushion, in relatively good shape?
Alternatively, any idea what later-model seats might fit into existing holes? Possibly 87-94?
Also, any recommendations for a good on-line source of slip covers for these vintage seats?
Or a reliable upholsterer in Los Angeles? (I'm new to the area.)
Thanks

I've been around Yotatech for ten years and haven't seen any "what would fit" threads for early pickups. I'd take careful measurements and go crawl around a pick n pull that has older vehicles. Later Toyota pickups (1989-1995) have a bench with a notch. 1st gen Tacomas (1996-2003) have a 60/40 bench that might fit. It's really a bucket that slides on the passenger side and 60% bench on the driver's side. There are nice seat covers that fit it. You also could check old Rangers. Measure the bolt pattern but you might end up needing to drill the floor. I'd also look at Corollas for bucket seats.

Thanks,
The truck is 100% original right now and runs/drives great, but the seat sorely needs an upgrade.
I'll measure and begin searching yards for a possible match, starting with Rangers, Corollas, and Tacomas as you suggest.

Keep the old seat in case you come into some spare money and can get it reupholstered. People already pay for old 4Runner seats so your old one has some value to someone. Don't people in Southern CA go to Mexico for upholstery?
