1996 Chevy C1500 5 speed 4.3 for swap candidate
1996 Chevrolet C1500 (2WD) 4.3 vortec TBI pickup, 5 speed, 180,000x miles, runs strong, new parts including radiator, brand new battery, previous owner did a clutch kit, I had a new gas tank installed, other little things I will remember, happy to answer questions as best I can. I have had this truck for 6 years, has been my farm truck for the last 3, driven daily in the summers. When it was on the road I put 5000 miles on it in a month on a trip to Colorado and back, never skipped a beat. Engine is very strong, I was thinking of swapping into my 1988 3vze extra cab, but really don't have time. This is would be a great swap candidate, as the whole rig is here, and it runs strong. New plugs, wires and cap. The radiator is new and should be used. Gas tank could be used. New battery. I believe the alternator is newer, or rebuilt. The frame and body are mostly junk, so not much resale value there, but I just would like someone to make use of the engine, would hate to not see it used. I never did any engine work to it other than change the oil as it never needed or showed any signs of needing it, I don't know of the timing belt has been done or not, or the head gaskets, I am guessing not. Not sure what the tranny is, factory 5 speed that came with this engine. Engine is TBI, says vortec, and spins the tires like nothing. Never leaked or burned oil when I've had it. This truck is also for sale on craigslist, but I would rather sell it to someone who is going to put it in a Toyota. It will have to be towed, as the frame and driver side leaf spring are separating, not safe to drive on the road.
