Valve keeper tool

For those who rebuild engines and have never used one of these may want to try it out, it'll save you alot of time $$$$

This is the Snap-on version that I have owned since 1980
Overhead Valve tool

I won't get into details on how it's used but here's the thread that got me to make this post: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...844#post649844

That looks like a great tool. Sure sounds like it'd be easier than trying to compress the spring with a c-clamp or something...*Smack*, off, *Smack*, on...easy!

I just bought this tool and it works great for removal, but can't figure out how to use it to reinstall the keepers. Anybody know how?

after you have the spring retainer in place set the keepers one each side of the valve stem, when you smack it with the tool they drop in place, sometimes it takes a few tries, because one keeper goes in and the other doesn't. if your doing it while the heads are still on the engine, I usually hook up an air line into the spark plug hole to keep pressure against the valve, so they don't drop out....
