In truck tool box, what would you include?

Im going to start carrying a toolbox int he truck (because I need a place to put my shackles, and straps, so I might as well carry some tools).

Ive come up with:

12" ratchet, 3/8" drive
24" breaker bar, 1/2" drive
1/2"-3/8" adapter
3/8"-1/4" adapter
1/2" extension
3/8" extension
1/4" extension
Bar of metric 1/2" drive sockets
Bar of metric 3/8" drive sockets
Bar of metric 1/4" drive sockets
Metric combination wrenches
Vise grips, a few sizes
a hammer
a utility knife
a couple screwdrivers

what else should I get? What ont here should I leave out?

The breaker bar is there so I have something to use if I get a flat, since the stock tire iron wont work with my lugs.

Consider less tools and more safty type gear. Tools are heavy and are often worthless without the spare part. You can wait for a tow, but something like a car fire, needing to give CPR/First Aid or a vehicle disabled in a dangerous place needs immediate attention.

I see you've got a 2K 4runner. Assuming you're carrying spare serpentine belts, I've changed the belts on mine and its a really nasty job to get to the bolt on the power steering pump (at least I think its PS - feeble memory). One of those ratcheting combination wrenches would be really handy if all you carry is the one for that bolt.

I find the breaker bar handy for loosening bolts as well. Many times the 3/8 ratchet handle just isn't enough to do the job or have any control and avoid bashed knuckles or cuts if the thing does finally let loose.

Oh yeah, throw in several pairs of those lightweight blue (Nitrile I think) gloves. I don't think grease or other fluids is good on the hands and you certainly don't want it all over everything because you can't get your hands clean.

Get those cloth tool bags...Craftsman sells them. Much easier to put in a spot and make a lot less clanking.

Electrical tape.
A variety of fuses in differ Amps.
Fuse puller.
Hammer
bungees
tie downs
ZIP TIES
spare fluids
jumper cables

etc. etc. etc.

There was a good checklist in on the 4x4 mags I get a few months back...it had a great list for a variety of levels of wheelers...
