Motorcycle lift for removing and installing axles

After fumbling with axles on my floor jack, I looked over in the corner and saw my cheap motorcycle lift from PepBoys and thought I bet that would work great to remove and install an axle. Drug it over, sat the axle on it, and it worked perfect. For the front axle I used a 4x4 under the long side and it just sat there perfect. I think my motorcycle lift will go up to about 18". If I remember right, I payed $50.00 for it on sale a bunch of years ago. Great if you are by yourself.

I've used my $50 ATV lift for transmissions too...beats paying $150+ for a real trany jack. I bought it for axles, diffs, bumpers, and sliders as well.

Sears/Craftsman has a motorcycle jack that's way overbuilt (think huge Harleys, gigantic Goldwings) which would be good for a trans jack.
