I have a Hobart 125 that I picked up off of eBay for about $50 more than you want to spend on the ARC welder. It was in perfect condition and looked like it was brand new. Still had the FULL original spool of 0.030 flux wire in it too.

"All Clarke Welders are covered by a generous 10 / 2 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty. The Transformer and Rectifier (a welder’s two main components) are warranted for a full TEN YEARS. All other components are covered for TWO YEARS. Clarke has Factory Authorized Warranty centers across the nation as well as a full inventory of parts & service available at the U.S. Headquarters, in Ohio. "

That sounds like a good warranty to me. I think Ganoid has made some really good points. Sounds like a buy to me...

Clarke 180EN

I picked up one of the Clarke 180EN welders about 3 months ago and it seems to work just fine for the light jobs I'm doing around the house. Was able to put together a bumper, weld the plates back on my sliders, and few other light jobs. Is it the same quality as a Miller or Lincoln? No, but for a first welder or someone on a budget not too bad.

Hobart 180

The Hobart 180 was recommended highly in another thread. I've been leaning towards it for my Christmas present. I found it here for a good price with free shipping:

I've never felt good about going the cheap route on tools I intend to have for a long time. I understand budgets though too! My truck is having a very expensive year!!

[Edit] Oops! Sorry, I forgot you mentioned no 220. :pat:
