I own Husky and Craftsman tools. I've never broke any of them (maybe I'm just a wuss ) It seams most of us agree that the "Craftsman exchange" is a pretty good example of customer service but have any of you had to exchange a Husky tool? I've heard Husky has the same lifetime warrantee but how do you exchange them? Swing by home depot?

I've not had to exchange any husky tools. I have exchanged a few of my Kobalt Tools. I just went to Lowes and they replaced them for me. I think I did have my receipt though, I dont know if they would require it or not...

I aint buying craftsman NO MORE. I use them day in and out on my job as a mechanic/battery service for AAA. So far I have broken the same danged 1.4 drive ratchet 6x, 1-2x a month. I always got a new one, the gears inside are PLASTIC NOW!

I gave up and finally of all places went to walmart and purchases a stanley one, wouldnt ya know it been 3 months and no issues. The other ratchet is stanley since I bought a set and although its a bit sloppy in the action it hasnt broken yet.

I also managed to snap the craftsman prybar, break multiple sockets, screwdrivers, snapped a pair of needlenose pliers, broke a ratcheting combo wrench and I even managed to break 4 breaker bars.

Its funny, cause now i went out and sold my craftsmans stuff and bought husky pro branded (nicer type) ratchets, a set of cheapie sockets and access from samsclub made by crescent and various stanley branded tools..nothing has broken yet. Matco/mac/snap on are good but $$$ and youg otta track down a tool guy. I like the warranty craftsman has but the tools are junk, I will take confidence in the fact that theonly thing that will most likely break is my ratchets,t he sockets dont break to easy unless your using them on an impact gun or a air ratchet like an idiot.

My only complaint is you can't upgrade and pay the difference. I had a 1/4" ratchet that quit working and wanted to get a better quality replacement. They said they couldn't do that so I paid the full price for the replacement and am happy with the upgrade. It's not a big deal but having that option would be nice.

No, your not going to be the ruination of the human race, we wont stop to exist because of misspelled or misused words on the internet, the earth will not stop rotating, but what WILL it do?
It will encourage others to not care about thier spelling, it will teach everyone that education isnt that important and we can just spell however we want, and things such as that. You are helping to contribute (you are not the sole cause) to the degredation of communication and human intelligence as a whole. What if no one had ever cared about thier spelling, or the improper use of knowledge? We wouldn't have invented anything...like electricity, or computers, or the internet... We wouldn't have gone to the moon (you paranoia conspiracy thoery types be damned) we wouldn't have the great works of literature and art that we have at our disposal.

This gets into the debate of what makes humans, human? Is it our ability to walk upright and grunt and build things? Or is it our ability to appreciate music, art, literature?

In short, and more to the point, show us your not stupid, and try to communicate like the rest of us, and don't be an ass when someone calls you on your mistakes.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i thought we got rid of the nazis many years ago. Its funny how 1 mispelling one wodr makes pople so dand mard. oops i did it again. Thanks for ruining another thread nazis.

To quote Chris Farley from Tommy Boy:

"I can take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed.....It's still just a guaranteed piece of crap."

That said, I still use craftsman tools because they are affordable and I have a Sears right down the street.

I used to cringe when I would come across a mispelling or a misuse on forums but I have moved past that. I now focus on the content of the post rather than how it was presented, unless it's so bad it makes me say wtf.

Ok folks time to ease off a bit we all misspell words now and then so lets stop riding each other about it. It eats up precious band width and adds no value to the discussion. The best way to avoid it is to proof read what you want to post before you hit the "post" button.

I don't have any craftsman tools but I do have a lot of Mastercraft (Canadian Tire house brand) tools I love the warrantee only got hassled once. I bring back bent, broken, worn out tools all the time and get a new one right away.
Gotta love that life-time guarantee.

there just whining about theyre ability to spel beter then the rest of us morrons, unlesss their grammmer teachurs...which shows theyre inability to passs on there knowledge two the failing students

ive broken every brand of tool.
i like to be able to replace it within an hour, if theyre open for business so i can finish the job.
some quality is obvious, esp when its made of pot metal & stamped made in china

if your breaking a 1/4" ratchet, maybe its time for a 3/8". go big!

I use all brands of tools at home and professionally.

I have broken tools from pretty much any company you can name EXCEPT for Proto, I have never had a failure with their stuff yet, although I don't think they are guaranteed for life if you never break them who cares.

I have managed to break my fair share of Craftsmen tools but, I still like them for the quality they do have at the price and there are plenty of stores around me to go to, my only real bitch is that I have replaced some of their Professional series tools and they tried repeatedly to give me non-Pro series as replacements and I had to argue the point that Pro series ARE more expensive and I want like for like exchange.

Also, I have exchanged some older tools due to rust and finish issues and the newer ones just aren't as beefy so sometimes I really have to consider that.

It does make a difference for me because I work for a Pharmaceutical company and our tools must be in perfect condition with no finish flaws to prevent anything from contaminating the product.

As a side note if anyone is interested in checking out Proto stuff I buy mine through www.msc.com

Darn right! You are all lucky I didn't see this thread first!

I tend to purchase the higher quality tools, just so I dont have to go out of my way and stop at sears every other day.

That being said, companies like Snap-on and Mac tools are WAYYYYY over priced on many of their items, and I refuse to pay the ridiculous markup. $450 for a 1/4" socket set? Please. I can buy 10 craftsman ones, and its only QUARTER DRIVE! If you break one of those, time to get a bigger wrench.

And on THAT note, i recently had a snap-on quarter drive stop working. For no reason. Then the mechanism completly broke so its dead weight until the snap-on dealer makes it back to my work. And since i dont know their schedules, I can't go chasing them all over the place trying to get it fixed. Especially when I need it the NEXT DAY for work. Sears affords you that opportunity.

Hmm, duno about all yall but i've got my snap-on guy's #.. my 21 just broke last week, called him up, he's got another one coming Friday. Of course though, i've got a backup 21... The tools/sockets i use most(the ones that usually break), i have multiples of... why wouldn't i? It just makes sense... to me at least. Have multiple sockets, multiple ratchets.. it's just senseful.

Question.. how often does any of yall's craftsman dealers ever have the tool you need IN STOCK... mine, pfft... NEVER... i've gone back 3 times before for the same dang flathead... know what, they still don't have it in stock.. i ask them when they will, they say "we don't know"... common.... My snap-on guy i say "Kenny, i need this!" he says, "ok Bryan, it'll be here next, oh wait, here it is right here!, here ya go!" and i'm happy & back to working. If not, he orders it here and it's here in a week, better than waiting weeks on end for a craftsman tool... ehh, i still haven't gotten it replaced,

Markup i don't mind too bad... I buy from a person. I like seeing the same person week in, week out. Every time i've gone to sears i've seen a new staff... I'd rather build a relationship and a friendship w/ a tool-man rather than a corporation that couldn't give a rat's butt about me or the tools it makes, or how much $$ i make. My local tool guys seem to care a bit more. When i have a bad week at work, i pay less, they offer it, when i have a good week, i offer more! It's not uncommon though for me to drop $100 on friday for tools though... (and i wonder why i don't have my truck fixed yet..) go figure ;-P I must say though, i dooo loooovveee my tools. :-D SHiny stuff, oooOoOoo.

Lets not forget to mention the fact that each tool company builds their tools differently... IE.. I like craftsman ratchets over snap-on, mac, matco... etc... I however like Snap-On Flankdrive wrenches over any other wrenches i've ever used... I'm fine w/ spending 300 Something on a set of 12 wrenches if i'm more comfortable using them, and heck... they DON"T slip off nuts/bolts... AMAZING alignment wrenches right there, mmmhmmm! I like gear-wrench ratchet wrenches... Craftsman laser etched sockets and, extensions i don't really care who their from. It depends on the tool as to where i buy from really. Just like i don't mind mac pliers, but i hate everything else they have... ugly looks... uncomfortable.. and my mac guy is kinda ... eh.. pushy.

But where you buy, markup, how things are made, what works/doesn't, blah blah blah, isn't what the tread is about is it. It's about craftsman's warranty. Take the thing back, break it again, and take it back again(you did already, gj)!!! it's a never-ending cycle of happy-breaking & busted knuckles! mmm.. hopefully less busted knuckles than tools though. :-/ Keep w/ craftsman and you'll be fine around home/town/off-road/hobby. You go into the field, you may end up thinking otherwise with a few items and start seeing how more money sometimes yields better results, i know i have.

just my .02

all tools will break regardless. ive broken snap-on, matco, craftsman, duralast, etc. i like craftsman cuz, as stated, you dont have to wait for the truck to come around once a week. you know whats weird? in san diego before i sold my air compressor and air gun, i broke the air gun, and sears replaced it no questions asked. did i get lucky, or does their warranty include air tools?
