Tested the Snorkel... and other offroad pics from this weekend (Dial up beware)
All pics here. http://www.mudrunner.ca/ardbeg_2005/index.htm
Well I tested the snorkel out this weekend.
No water in the air filter... However I had water above all four seats, about 5L of water went down the dip stick and into the oil (had to change the oil twice to get all the water out) A cup of water poured out of the computer, 2 table spoons of water into the distrubutor, And my SEATS Smell funny now.
I spent about 3 hours getting the truck running properly after the little dip in the lake. and the next day the truck wouldn't start. ended up being the main opening relay wasn't working. Here was the fix.
GI JOE was a real hero this weekend..
Okay so Ill post a couple cool pics of toyota stuff now.
Custom made stainless tail gate. custom made front and rear bumper. winch front and rear. AND hes running 35 inch tall by 15 inch wide tires on a STOCK IFS suspension (Thanks to a 4" Farmer auto body lift)
Heres another 1st gen Runner Troy blew his clutch and flatened a tire
Custom Front and rear bumper on this toy too.

[QUOTE=AxleIke]What's wrong with this picture???...Oh, thats right, you brought a jeep along...not a good plan...
First off that JEEP Hauls some serious but... A little Jeep with a SB 350 Bored and tuned
....... And like every jeep in our club it was towed to and from the trail. Dont knock Jeeps to much they are very capable trucks offroad (They just never make it there and back)
As for being a crack head.
HOW else was I suppposed to test the snorkel ??? I built the snorkel to be USED not look pretty. and now I know what other issues I have to deal with (Dipstick letting water in, Seal up the cab, move the computer)
Second my truck isn't a pretty show and shine mall crawler truck. I beat the piss out of my truck.... it's used and abused as a 4x4.

OH don't get me wrong, i think jeeps are incredible off road, in fact, many ways they are better than toyotas, easy to lift, short wheel base (although not always a good thing). Rubicons come better stock than many mildly modded toys...HOWEVER...like you said, they never get there or back...I wheel with jeeps from time to time, and it's rare for them not to have some breaking of some kind or another...Broke rigs are annoying, and trail repairs suck...

Diff's where good, xfer case was good, Changed the fluid in the Automatic transmission it was a little dirty but no water, And everything is running perfect.
I let the truck sit out in the sun for a couple days with the top off and windows open and it dried out fine, (I did remove the rear seats) No funky smells or anything now.
I wont be driving the truck straight into a lake again anytime soon, But at least know I know I can
... And I Know Im safe when it comes to river crossings and deep mud holes. Just gotta get a new oil dipstick to seal that leak up.
