2006-07-18: North Rope Mill Road, off of Sixes Road (I-575). DEAD END? Not if you have 4WD!

Nick and I had an hour or so to kill on Tuesday afternoon, so after work we loaded up and tooled around off of North Rope Mill Road.
Nothing terribly exciting, but if it's practically in your backyard why not? Online Photo Album HERE.

I love it when you come up with thes elittle trails around you, Im just down from you in douglasville, I work up 85 off of North Druid, I would love to come and hit some of these trails with you sometime. How much of this one do you think a 2WD could do? Let me know, I'd love to come check em out!

If it's dry, you could hit any of that. A couple of the hills might give you a fit because they're kinda sandy. One direction is much easier than the other, you could do it the way I took pictures. Reversing the trail would be annoying, at best.

Awesome!!! Are you usually free on the weekends? I'll be out of town this weekend, and next weekend, but say the 5th of aug, that weekend? Or maybe the next weekend, the 12th? If its cool with you, or whenever you have some time, give me a shout!

One more question. If you could help me out, I was playing around on google earth, trying to find that general area...That sewage pump you listed you mentioned....about 34* 08' 50 N and 84* 31' 11 W?? If could give any other landmarks, or coordinates or wherever to get a good general idea of the area. Thanks!!
EDIT: If you go those coordinates on google earth, and follow that road it is on to the southeast, it runs through a cul-de-sc and turns into a bunch dirt trails, are these the trails you were running? Thanks!

I always take my GPS and my DeLorme Atlas, and a cooler with cold drinks because it may be a while. Much of the time there is no cell phone service. It can be fun and interesting -- sometimes I'm on a dirt track for miles, and later find out that it was a main "road" back around the Civil War times. Hey, it's not the Rockies, but around here you work with what you've got! Kudos to you, keep exploring, just don't go anywhere you oughtn't!

I normally ALWAYS have my GPS with me. It just so happens that I took it out of the truck to download some maps on it and it's been sitting on the coffee table for a couple days now. We hit this trail immediately after work, so I didn't have it on me at the time.
Believe it or not, I found this trail by Geocaching. At one time, there was a road that crossed the river alongside the Interstate. My dated maps (on the GPS) assumed that I could still cross right there. When I got to the gate where the road was, and it was closed -- I figured, what the hell? While I'm back here, let's see where this other road goes.
If you want the file for Google Earth, send me a PM with your Email address and I'll send you the Google Earth .kmz export.
