Marlin Crawler Round up trip report

The wife and I made it back in one piece from this years Marlin Round up. Because we were not able to get to the trail until Sat morning we opted to just go down Cadillac Hill and set up camp. We arrived at about 1pm and found a decent spot to set up our camp. A lot of people had already arrived.

The first thing I did was went and got onto the Helicopter ride list. It took a few hours to round up a few more to go but it was worth it! The rubicon at 100mph and 5 feet above the treetops is something everyone should experience at least once! I had the feeling you get on the first drop of a good coaster for 15 minutes straight. The vids don't do the experience justice.

After the helo ride the wife and I walked around and checked out everyone's rigs. There are always some cool stuff to look at at the Round up. They had a RC comp going on and a horseshoe tourney this year.

The dinner started at 5 and just as previous years it was pretty awesome and very well organized. The line moved very quickly. The tri-tip was awesome. After the dinner the raffle started. They had some killer prizes from all the big vendors. I won a $300 gift certificate from Advance Adapters.

It turns out that it's cold in Sierras this time of year at night. Despite 2 blankets and our sleeping bags the wife and I woke up cold at 430am so we broke camp rather quickly and headed out. We went up Cadillac Hill in the dark at 5am. It was not too bad and we avoided all the traffic. Once over the top we pulled over and slept a few more hours in the warm truck. We stopped in Tahoe City where some other wheeling trucks were and got a killer early lunch.

Overall it was a great trip and I can't wait till next year. I highly recommend this run if you get a chance to go. Here are the pics and some videos of the Helo ride.

Sporting one for Davez Offroad

The videos.. Sorry about the noise but their were no doors on the Helo and I was hanging out the side!

Awesome pictures Joey.
Will check out the vids here shortly.

I really dig this one, it has a tent on top like mine.

Thanks again for the killer pics.

that Helo almost looks like an RC parked on the rock LZ.
Glad you had a good time.
I am going to have 10 weeks off next summer for my sabbatical. If the Trekker is ready, I wonder if I can convince my wife to drag it down there.
I would love to go just to see all the trucks...

As mentioned below, Photobucket is a great forum host.
We also host pics here, many did not even know about the link in your navbar above.

Does anyone know any specs on this LC? 39s or 42s?? That is a cool rig...I think he needs to cap that rock slider though!

Looks like one of those diesel "troop haulers".

The 45 belongs to Gary from Mudrak. It's even nicer in person. You might find specs on it on Ih8mud.

I went with a few of the SN4WD folks and had a great time.
