I hydrolocked the first engine in my 4rnr, showing off with the kids in the truck. Second engine bad rod bearring after redlining playing in the snow. Yep, I learned the hard way and I'm tired of replacing engines. No more wheel by throttle for me. Good luck.

don't allow water into your engine .... snorkel ... driving slow into water and letting a 'wave' form before you and keeping consistent speed.

hitting a puddle in a parking lot or on freeway can splash water up into your engine bay and kill your motor.

Don't get wet...

For lack of better words keep your intake out of the water. If you filter/airbox is submerged this is bad.

at least you dont have a desiel...(from what i understand) the presure is so great in the combustion chamber it freezes the water instantly....yeah the way i look at it. id rather pour money into something that crawls over a mountain instead of something that bombs threw a puddle....lol

Liquids do not compress...at all....so get too much water sucked in...recipe for a bent rod or worse.

I love my trucks way too much too abuse them like that....I know...one man fun is anothers abuse. Run through mud and you destroy your ride.

highlux - the mountains are a long way away from where most people live. Mud's fun too, muskeg/bog sucks. Literally! I got buddies who stepped off their rig and ummm well they went shoeless for the rest of the day. Four searchers and none could find the missing shoe.

condolences on the engine though, any updates?

From: Bryan Tx,
I am going to bet his inner fenders where modified for tire clearance? That didn't seem like enough water to hydo-lock. Like others have said, this is one of the many reasons that I stay out of the mud if possible. Mud screws up everything. I don't even consider "mudding" wheeling.
