Evan's Creek 6/28/2010. (No job bum trip) 56k be warned.

So my brother calls me yesterday (6/28) and says, "You down for some wheeling?", and being a jobless, bum. I was like, "Hecks yeah!" We headed off to Evan's Creek for a jaw dropping, thrilling trip.

We started off at trail 311, to hit up window breaker. I didn't really understand why they called it window breaker, until I saw all of the glass on the ground, and on the tree roots.

Two guys I went with green jeep is my brother, red jeep is John one of the guys from NWjeep forum.

They've recently just redirted the road. It was pretty nice and way less bumpy than it usually has been in the past.

With new gravel they put down comes great dust. roll up your windows!

Scenery was great!

So we started out at Trail 311

Don't ask don't tell....

This is up at window breaker.

The problem with this path is the rocks to the left you have to climb, The tree to the right infront of the jeep has roots that stick out. So you slide off the rock, and bust our your windows.

You can see some of the carnage, also if you look closely you can see the 4runner coming out of its natural habitat.

This is why lockers are good....

I got a two tire.... fire... One front, one rear....

I just thought this shot was cool. Can you spot the 4runner tracks?

low flying clouds.

Lunch time.

Next we decided to hit 520, and 520 upper.

We met up with another Yota guy. He didn't want to hang along.

From 520, we hit 519.

This does not look as bad as it really was. This is a sheer 6 ft drop. To tell you the truth was pretty scary in a 4runner, Not sure how it was a jeep.

Jeep made it down without any problems. time to 4runner it.... Wish me luck!

JUMP ON MY BUMPER MAN!!!

One more guy...

Another good example why lockers rock...

This is pretty much the end of our trip.

When I went on that trail with the drop like that, it wasn't nearly as bad is it is there. Looks like its been eroded a little since I went there many years ago!

The First time I went down that was dark and we were solo. I walked to to the edge with a flashlight, thouht not bad. I realise the error in my desicion once over it. The rock on the bottom passenge side adds to the pucker factor. Yep pulled a handfull of seat cushion out of my crack afterwards.

Nice run.

Great scenery.
I have only tooled around on the logging roads up there, and that was eons ago.

Do they still have that map box when you enter the campground?
If not, they have maps online.

Thanks guys!

We had some fun down there. I'm defiantly seeing were lockers come in handy. Especially for a 4runner, Seems I cannot really flex as much as I need with a 4runner. I also have to research the transfer case. For some reason, I have a feeling it transfers more to the rear than the front. Not sure tho.

Tranfer send the same both front and back. The only way the could be a difference is if you had difference gear ratios in the difs f/r. I doubt that would be the case but suppose it could be possible.

Nope, Tcases in our trucks transfer equal power front and rear. Being that they are part time 4wd, there isn't a reason to split the torque via an "open center diff" aka AWD. 2001-2002 4Runners used an unlockable AWD transfer case.

Only way to do it any other way is via a torque split diff like in newer cars.
