They're cheap and are relatively good at bass reproduction.

well IMO the Infinity looks cleaner and people that have them seem to like them; and for a tacoma, with a small cab it will prob be pretty darn good.

I have a mtx 8" sub in a box built to fit under the taco rear seat if you want some bass cheap, you just need a small asmp (50-100w) to add a little bit of bump.

I decided I was gonna put 4 JL Audio 6W0's in my truck somewhere. Here is what I cam up with. I removed my rear jump seats in my 03 Tacoma xtra cab and made a fiberglass/mdf sub box/amprack/rear seat. It is just about the same size as the original jump seats, and houses the 4 subs as well as 2 Xtant 403a's. Plus I have more usable space back there because it is a bench seat now...

With the seat cushion in...

nice set up NisAznMonk , those 7's must have sounded good...i got the 6's and i think they are crazy loud

Seriously though, that almost mirrors the setup that I was trying to relay to Bumpin' with the exception of your actually mounting the speakers into the box, whereas I had envisioned them being mounted into the rear of the cab itself (with "ports" if I chose to go that route) and "passed through" into the truck's box to have full usage of the available space (approx. 10-12 cu. ft.) for a bass chamber for creation of as much "boom" as possible.

All in all, props to the installer, that is clean!

His setup is exactly what I was intending...we just worded it differently.

Beautiful install - did you do it yourself? Is there a seam btwn the sub box and hte amp rack lid?

If it is a 95 to 2000 you could build an enclosure in the side walls. It will house an 8 per side. And as someone has stated you will be suprised at the output of a pair of 8's. I have built this type of enclosure before. It does take a little time but is worth it because you do not have to damage carpet or jump seats to make something work. I will try to find the photos of the this build and post some of them.

look into the infinity basslink T. amplified 10" subwoofer with a pair of passive radiators. The design is slim enough to fit behind your seat with zero loss of leg room.
