Running wires through door jamb=B***H!
Holy crap It took me 4 hours to do an entire system in my uncle's 98 4R, and more than half of that was trying to run a speaker wire through the door jambs tot he door speakers...
Tip: Use a flexible piece of wire and shove it through that gromet fromt he door side...go slowly and carefully...and then tape the wire securely to the speaker wire and pull it back through..

If the owner never plans on having his stereo on with the door open (like at parties, desert, offroad trips, ect) It's alot easier to use door contacts instead of running wires.

just pop off the boot grommets that attach to the sub frame and the door, then use a flexible rod withthe wires taped to it. then it's easy as pie... I've have to do it quite a few times. 4 hours is a little long, but not bad by any means for your first time...

Ive done HU installs in 15 minutes start to finish (soldered, not crimped), Amp installs in 20-25 minutes...but this was rediculous...It was damn near impossible to get the coat hanger through so i could pull the speaker wire back through... But i didnt know you could take that boot off...DAMN!

I don't have power anything so I didn't have a boot. First I just drilled hoes and ran wire through but a year later after wraping them with electircal tape and having the ries get cut half way through I decided to start over and this time I used gromets. This worked well.
