custom sub / speaker mounts, making it look stock

anyone have any ideas as to how they got the custom work done on this door panel to match up with the original material? is it vinyl? i have no clue.

*edit* my best guess would be working bondo into the desired texture then spraying a somewhat rubberized paint?
