I'm just talking about putting a skid plate under the tank, then I'm getting the Front Range Off-Road crossmember/skid plate for under the tranny/transfer case, and then all I'll have left is the front skid plate.

Do you have a BL, cause It should tuck up nicely when you remove the cross member. My cross member is cut out and raised 2" off the top of the frame and is made of 2" square tube, same as my sliders and rear bumper. There is plenty of room up there. You might get better weight distrabution if you move it closer to your bumper, but departure angle might be reduced.

I have a 3" body lift, and yes my stock rear crossmember was removed a long time ago. It's tucked up as high as it will go without hitting the body, leaving about 1" all the way around it for flex. I want it was far forward as possible, because as you mention, the departure angle would be reduced if I move it back. Plus the way I designed my rear crossmember, it's fitting in between it at the crossmember that's above the shock & spring mounts. It's fitting very well at this point.

Yep, it tucks up pretty nice! I cait wait to get it secured. I didn't do any work as I had planned this weekend, because my wife's family came into town. Hopefully this next Friday I'll have everything done.

Thanks, but I'm going to make a custom one, which is probably out of necessity, due to the mounting setup. I appreciate the offer though.

hey Chris, what is the capacity of that Isuzu tank? Is it the same as the original or larger?

BTW I have found a donor tank for my swap. Its from a 65 mustang (16 gal.) brand new. It fits perfectly in the frame rails. I will be starting a thread about it in the next couple of months.

I would think a larger tank would be ideal, at least for me. With so many vehicles on the market, there has to be a couple that will fit perfect and have the same side fill port.

keep the pics coming Chris!

21 gallons, so a few gallons bigger than stock, which is nice.

More pics will come as I get time to work on it. Friday, I have the day off, so I'll try to finish it up then.

That's the whole reason I'm doing this mod. It's all custom fabrication, wiring, tubing, etc.

That is my main reason too. getting some extra gallons is a bonus, but not a necessity for me. I am following along closely with this thread.

Making the tank connection was a lot easier than I expected, that's for sure. That's the part I was worried about, but now that that's behind me, I've just got ot come up with a solid way to mount it, but plus be able to remove it if needed. Running the tubing and wiring is going to be simple. My excitment it the idea of cutting out the freakin' crossmember for all that added clearance. I can't wait!

Aren't you losing some fuel capacity?

Stock=18 gal

Mustang=16 gal

I like chris' tank, and gaining 3 gal.
