I've got verizon.
The coverage is excellent. I get it everywhere in town, and most everywhere in the mountains. It does cut out, but usually not for very long. They have a good set of plans, though i don't like their second phone policy, its pretty weak. They give you the phone for 20 extra a month, but it has zero benifits, the way the main one does. Its long and hard to explain, but it sucks.
Anyway, i like verizon, and i haven't heard anything one way or another on cingular.

thankx for the replies,
they may have changed that, we was told (3 times now by 2 diiferent people) the extra line is now $10 a month.
but Im liking what Im hearing, lol (about the coverages)
we have Nextel now and absolutly HATE it, hate the customer service, hate the no service, hate the drops calls, we did finally get them to let us out of the contract, withOUT paying the $200 per line, we have 3 lines, so that would have hurt, lol
robcogliani26,
when your travling how often do you lose a signal ? i know in remote areas you wont get a signal.

Verizon is the way to go out here, they are more expensive but have the best coverage. I know where coverage is bad and stay away from those areas, but that could also be my phone cause lindsay is on verison too and has a new phone and doesn't have the problem i have. so that kinda proves that the phone make a difference also. Good luck.

i have verizon, switched from cingular. i hated cingular, coverage sucked, and expensive. verizon, has great service, and has far $$. i just did a road trip from PA-Reno NV, and i had service all the way until somewhere in WY. but only lost briefly. i really like verizon. i've heard good thing's about ALLTELL too.
sprint sucks too. had them about 6 years ago. maybe better now.but doubt it

I have Verizon and the coverage does have some random dead spots, especially in the mountains, but I've had friends who have switched back to Verizon because of the coverage in the area. Customer Service is pretty good, but the plans are over-priced and over-restricted (as they all are).

I have T-mobile and cingular. The cingular phone has great coverage and from what my brother said is if theres a place you dont have service you call in and they give you a credit almost as big as your bill.I havent tried it but i havent lost service except in the hills. I use T-mobile the most and have good service except at my house in the garage. I found the t-mobile phone to be cheaper then that cricket garbage too:pat:

very cool, well, we just got new phones today, she gets a discount through work, so we went with Verizon, we got 3 phones, all for free, and our monthly payment will drop about $110, we was paying about $220 with nextel, and getting bad service.
Both Edie and I got the samsung sch-a930 and we got the LG VX8300 for the boys, all for free, cant beat that, and saving over $100 a month

well since we now have our new phones, does anyone know how to download pics to save as wallpaper ?
oh we will be selling the nextels
Hers the I90:
it will come with, car charger, one desktop charger, and an extra battery.
heres the I836:
It will come with a car charger, one wall charger, one desktop charger, and belt clip.
we will also will have a nextel i265: no pic now, but will have car charger, wall charger, and belt clip.
not sure what we will want for them, shoot me a price. all or one. once we close nextel (in a about a week) i will post up in the for sale section.
back to the question.. do i just get a cable thing for Verizon and transfer the pics from the PC to the phone ?

Also, the howardforums wiki is a nice place to get information on tweaking and really USING your phone.
Enjoy.

BitPim is an app that will let you retrieve all of the data off your phone. It's an open source app. Kind of a geek app, not the friendliest, but it's free if you have a cable to connect to your PC.
HTH
BTW, if you don't have coverage with Verizon or Alltel, then you probably can't get coverage with any other vendor. The inverse is not true in CO/WY. We have Verizon because of their coverage area: All of CO & WY, with a few dead spots. Everyone else is fairly isolated to the I-70 & I-25 corridors.
