any interest in a NY Chapter website?
We had one for a while, but it saw so little traffic that I quit maintaining it.
I'm happy to do it again if people are interested, however I'm hesitant to pay for a domain name/hosting space if there isn't strong interest.

A forum is key, if people have somewhere to go, chat, and plan, they will tend to hang around. Of course, activity is good too, meet and greets, runs, etc, it takes some effort but is well worth it. Post up on ttora and 4x4wire too.

I run phpBB and vBulletin forums now, so the technical side will be the easy part. The hard part will be getting people to the site, then getting them to be active on the site AND get together to wheel from time to time.
I started a club site for local mountain bikers, so I know how all this goes. The advantage I had there was that it started out on a free host, so cost was less of an issue. I no longer have access to that free host (at least not for this type of thing), so someone is going to have to shell out $$$ for hosting.

Can't - that's hosted on a machine here at work. Policy is that only "personal sites" can be hosted by company equipment. Even though it wouldn't be a commercial site, the fact that it is a club site in nature means it's a no-go.
That's the free host I referred to in an earlier post.
