VA4ROC Website is Up
(Deleted old Link)
Check it out, poke around, test stuff, Keep in mind this is a temporary testbed and any posts made will probably not be saved for the permanent site. Otherwise go nuts.
Let me know what you think, send me suggestions, but I'm not going to work on it again until next week.

Nice start. Hate the popups, but what can you do...
I know, I have some space we could use. How much is required? My mindspring account gives me 10megs, I think. I'm currently using it to host pics for forums, but I can dedicated most of the space to the VA4ROC if you guys are interested...

Yeah they suck. Rather have those than have tripod put ads on each page. There is a link to a pop up stopper in the first paragraph on the main page, works very well, have had it on my laptop for a long time. You have to hold CTRL or SHFT to allow windows, but once you get used to it, it's great. You can also allow one tripod pop up and let it fall behind the others, as long as one is open no more will come up.
I think tripod allows 20 megs, so we should be okay until we get a real host, as long as we don't add too many pictures we should be fine for a while.

It's definately taking shape. Did you read what denverbikeguy posted on the main 4ROC board about hosting?

I didn't even notice the link for the popup stopper. Wouldn't help though, I was on my work computer and can't load software there. I have a popup stopper on my laptop and home machine though

As per the meeting last night, published the member info, deleted the discussion forum. How about a links page?

Hey all, I should have time to jazz up the site so if there are any suggestions let me know.
At the moment I'd like to add a links page, so if you have any that are VA specific email them to me and I'll drop them in.

Cool, I assume these include the ones taken last week at Anita's... At this point we definitely need some graphics and content, that will get us off to a good start. I anybody wants to go out and snap some shots of your truck, sedn them over and I'll add them to your profile...

I have a photo CD with pics of my truck waiting for me to pick up. It also has a couple of shots we took at Anitas. We should get copies of the pictures Mayday took. They looked pretty good on his digital camera.

Go ahead and send them as large as they are, I don't know which pics I'll put where. Most importantly small pics can't get bigger, but bigger ones can get smaller. And I can also add your membership info as soon as you send me your info...

I like that revised logo too. The "Virginia" seems to get lost due to the color. Can you experiment with different colors to see how "Virginia" can stand out?

I felt it was a tenuous fit also, it works well I think, but just shy of pro quality. The probelm is as you said, it does blend a bit much with the logo colors, especially with the glow, but the problem is that this theme has very few colors in the palette that will work. I'm playing with the idea of removing the VA shadow, etc., then finding a flat color that works well and minimizing the flair on top. It will need at least one shake of spice other than the color, and that is what can shift it into the background. Gonna mess with that today, nobody in the office.

Also, just remembered. One reason I was steering away from yellow was it would start to look like Star trek. Decided that for night vision, yellows were to bright anyway so moved things toward the darker side of the spectrum. Trying to find a deeper yellow that will work with this is a probelm since the letters are thin. Check it out on the site, the problem is helped most by applying a much bigger than normal shadow, I may have found a decent color too, but none of them work well without some glow or beveling.
