half my truck is trail gear and i have nothing bad to say about them, i too will be getting trail gear gears soon whether dirctly from them or from brian

I've bought TG stuff. Some is OK, and some stuff I was real dissapointed in the quality. As always, you get what you pay for and this I found holds true in some of their parts.

Not only is the v8 power combined with big tires and low gearing going to cause problems, but also keep in mind how much more weight that v8 adds to your truck as well. I think with a light toyota pickup or even 1st gen 4runner a 3rz or 3.4 would one of the best options, especially if you are sticking with Toy 8" axles.

people on pirate have been complaining about TG copying marlin and everything else if u are interested look. Yes trailgear stuff is made overseas but for someone like me who is a college student and funds are tight you gotta do what u gotta do. Also if anyone can tell me how crucial is the master install kit. will most installers require this. And if i buy the tools and learn to do it myself do I definately need it. The price difference is about 300 bucks for both diffs to about 550 for 5.29's for front and rear.

I've read and heard the whole TG vs MC thing. People need to form their own opinions for starters.

The stuff I have from TG, armor, is the same no matter what manufactor you buy them from. It's hard to screw up armor imo.

my point is that trail gear is all just copied marlin, damn good copies as the owner supposedly used to work at marlin.

Directly from tattoo @ Trail Gear (he's shipping manager or something):
"We do not make our own R&P gears, we buy gears and re-box them as Creeper gears. Sometimes you will get one with a Yukon part number or another name brand part number, it just depends on the gear ration that you order and who we think is the best manufacturer of that gear. Since we warranty them our selves we are real picky about the gears that we sell."

There is a lot of stuff many of you have assumed about Trail Gear and their products because you've read a post here or there or heard about it from someone. You should take it all with a grain of salt and do your own research before assuming...as you know what happens when you do that sometimes.

Better yet, if you have a question about the TG products, post it up on their website forum or email me.

FYI: "Tattoo" or John Robertson is the sales manager for Trail Gear, so I would think he would know the products.

Talking about gears, my brother is now insisting to put in a Chevrolet Pickup Ring & Pinion Gear Set with his Honda. It?s my spare when I had a chevy. He?s kind of serious about it. I just told him he might break it. But, still I want to know if it would really work. I want to give him proof so I did a few searching. Unfortunately, I wasn?t able to find any answer the whole day. Anyways, he?s just too lazy to look for the right parts. If anyone got any idea what I need to tell my brother, please do give me a PM. I?d like to say, I appreciate any in advance. Thanks!!!
