Anyone know how to get at the t case and trans breathers to route them up higher? For fording water.

If they exist, probably find them under the shifter boots. Some gear boxes have vents, other do not (they vent through the shifter). You can always adda vent if there is none:

I've got a taco w/ auto trans. I ford a lot of deep mud and water crossings. I used to change my fluids after any over-the rocker panel fordings but I never once noticed and water seperating from the engine oil, axel oil and or tranny/xfer case. So I don't worry so much anymore, I just keep an eye on the fluid levels and use common sense on my fluid changes when concerned w/ water contamination.

I found the T-case breather cap. It's on the T-case (obviously ) just under the shifter. If you have an auto trans taco, and you pull the console up there is a pivot bolt that the shifter mounts to. At the end of that pivot bolt on the left side there is a nut. If you drill a 1/2 or 3/4 hole at the end of that bolt/nut you can see the t-case breather right under it. I am gonna run a piece of tube down the hole and push it over the breather after removing the breather cap. I'll probably use a hose clamp to secure it. As for the transmision, I can't find the breather, so it's probably up plenty high.

Cool. Thanks. Not sure how he got at the trans vent without taking the cab off, but I'll give it a shot.

Ha Ha thats a fact

I did it but might pull the tranns next time. Not really.

I found removing the bolt and vent stem easy, and to reinstall to stem wasn't to bad, and I have big hands. BUT getting the 6mm hold-down bolt back in took many trys. If a guy is lucky (or has small hands) it could go real smooth and fast, maybe one hour strat to finish.

I am glad I took the time and have this done now.
